Curriculum

currciulum

Our curriculum areas include:

Personal Social and Emotional

Good Personal, Social and Emotional Development is crucial for young children in all aspects of their lives including other areas of learning. It is very important that we make them feel good about themselves in order to build confidence and self esteem. Staff in the nursery school, work very hard to ensure that all children build good and supportive relationships with children and adults and that they develop good attitudes to learning for now and the
future.

Communication and Language

Communication and language includes speaking, listening & attention.
Children are many opportunities though their play to develop their speaking and listening skills in both their heritage language and in English. We enjoy full time bi-lingual support for Punjabi  & Urdu speakers.

Physical Development

Physical Development is about improving skills of coordination, control, manipulation and movement. It is also important in encouraging children to gain confidence in what they can do and helps them to feel the benefits of being healthy and active. Children acquire a positive sense of well- being, health and self-care through effective physical development. Our outdoor facilities enhance this area of learning and future plans for further developments are very exciting.

Literacy

This area of development involves reading and writing, with children recognising writing as a means of communication.

Maths

This area of learning develops understanding of number and space, shape & measure. Mathematical understanding is developed through stories, songs rhymes, games and imaginative and creative play, so that children can enjoy using and experimenting with numbers.

Understanding the World

In this area of learning children are developing all the knowledge, skills and understanding that will help them make sense of the world in which they live. This is done through activities that encourage exploration and investigation.  Through these activities they will begin to understand what they will learn later in science, history, geography,  Design technology and ICT.

Expressive Arts and Design

Being creative is an important part of successful learning as it helps children to extend their understanding by making connections between one area of learning and another. This area includes exploring and using media and materials, and being imaginative through art, music, dance, role play and imaginative play.
